I want to commend you for thinking outside the box, but in fact I copied the reviewer's idea for an emergency flashlight. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07C3Z61TQ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o09_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 He bought these emergency flashlights that stay plugged into the wall like night lights. They light up in the event of a power failure and can be used at any time like normal flashlights. Unfortunately, flashlight batteries tend to run out faster than you'd like, which can be a problem during a power outage. The guy bought these more powerful batteries and did a little soldering to replace the batteries in the flashlights. I'm quite a handyman so I bought flashlights and these batteries, followed the guys advice and it all works great. It takes a little effort, but it's worth it. Why, why do manufacturers have to solder batteries into their products? I believe these batteries will work just fine in your cordless (non-cellular) phone as well, as long as you still have a landline phone.
