Works for me out of the box.

Before you start cutting and splicing, make sure everything is working properly. Because while the positive and negative MC4 connections appear to be swapped, the Barrell connection also got the opposite ends mixed up. So it worked fine for me. Charge and no problem. Make sure it is, but thanks to another review I figured it out and was able to use it.
