Review on 🚁 Tello Drone Quadcopter Boost Combo: 3 Batteries, Charging Hub & Surmik Care Kit by Susan Castle

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Fun, easy to fly but has its own quirks. Smartphone required.

I think this is a good drone for a beginner or even an older kid. I bought it for myself and am very happy with it so far. However, I was disappointed by the fact that the prop guard was bent out of the box, causing the prop to hit it and make a horrible whirr. I have to flex it before every flight or it will bang. This resulted in a couple of propellers chipping if I forgot. They are very fragile, so watch out for obstacles. It also lost orientation on the 3rd flight and had to be calibrated. It didn't have any hard hits, just a little jerk on the first flight. The calibration process can take a while, and if you make a mistake, good luck so you can calibrate it again with no extra effort. The max height seems to be 30 feet and it gets a little scary when there are any wins. An app where you create your own flight plan can be a little buggy. So good luck with that. Picture quality is good, but don't expect it to be better than your phone. They are definitely not Go Pro type videos or photos. All in all, if the prop protection hadn't cost me the props I'd give it a 4 or 5 star rating, but that's a deal breaker out of the box.
