Useful way to try different brands

(men's review) After years of thoughtlessly using disposable cartridges I ended up using a double edge razor for a while. I've used Feather blades from the start because I used to use them in a straight razor that I sometimes used to trim my beard as I grew it. Feather blades are known for their sharpness; You'll have to be a bit conservative about shaving with them if you've never used them before. During the pandemic, the price of nibs skyrocketed (in Feb 2020 I bought a 100 pack for $22; a year later they were $40!) expecting the price to spike by the time I bladed need to re-order, won't go down in 2021, and having no experience with other brands, I decided to try this set. So last winter I put the spring blades aside and gave these a try. I'm glad I did. Your experience will depend on the brand of blade, depending on the type of beard you have, the level of skin prep, the soap used, and your ability to shave with a double-edged blade or razor. Like I said, I like Feather blades because they're extremely sharp and I'm good enough with a razor not to cut myself more than a few times a month. However, I was surprised (and pleased) to realize that out of the seven brands in this strain, I'd be pretty happy with five, including Feather of course. In fact, I didn't see any significant difference in shaving quality or blade durability that I got with the other four compared to the Feather. I usually throw away my Feather blades after four shaves as I've noticed a decrease in cut quality after that. However, I found I could use the other four blades of the same length or longer and for about 1/3 the current price of the Feather or less. I've noticed other reviewers rated the blades very differently than I did. Your mileage may vary accordingly. Whether you're just starting out with a safety razor or, like me, have limited experience with different brands, this versatile kit is worth the investment. You can find out which blades work best for you and be flexible to price changes if necessary. I'm glad I've been experimenting with this for the past few months.
