Good set but unacceptable packaging: blades break

This is a good representative set of the best double-edged razor blades on the market, the crème de la crème. This set could give you a chance to personally rate the pros and cons of each if it weren't for the bad, bad, bad packaging. The seller doesn't seem to understand that a razor blade is a precision tool and should be treated as such. That is why blade manufacturers deliver their products in a robust plastic case. However, this seller threw the blades in a crappy plastic bag and mailed…

Great quality and great idea

Great set - I never thought blade brand could matter but it does matter - I recommend buying this set to find out what works best for you. My reviews here: Shark Super Stainless Dual Blade Razor Blades: A (started out a little rough but then a good, tight, durable razor) Dorco Platinum Dual Blade Stainless Steel Razor Blades: AAstra Superior Platinum Dual Blade Razor Blades: A- (Fantastic feel, thorough Shave but didn't seem to last very long) Feather Hi-Stainless Platinum Dual Blade Blades: C…

Always check your blades

I love trying different blades but the quality of each may not be the best. I always check my blades before using them and noticed a good hit on the first blade I pulled out. Check your blades to make sure you aren't accidentally cutting yourself.

  • Easy install

Good choice without much razor

BLUF: If you're looking your way to the blade, this is a good place to start. Sound, but without a ton of it. Also good price with free shipping. How about 3 blades? That is not enough. In my opinion, if you hate blades, and I've hated a few, you don't need to be stuck with a bunch of extras. In addition, you have enough of each brand to determine consistency within the brand. At the end of this little trial and error, I can throw out the ones I hate without guilt because there will only be a…

A great way to find out which blade suits you best

If you use a double edge safety razor not all brands of blades will work for you. Each blade company uses a different coating and sharpens blades to different degrees of sharpness. The sharpest blade is not necessarily the right one for your skin type and beard. With this sample set, you can try out different blades and decide what you like best.

Great Sampler: Men's

I never thought I'd be the guy to review a safety razor sampler set. But here we are. I've been shaving with the same 1960's Gillette Red Tip butterfly razor since my dad gave it to me 25 years ago. (RIP Mountain Man) I used to settle for these double edged safety razors I had at my local store/supermarket. Just before the pandemic, I moved from a big city where I could easily find blades to a small college town. Shaving frequency dropped to about every three days over the years, then COVID…

Good set: Men's

This was a great way to test out all the major blade brands. We women need the right balance: not too hard, not too boring. Several cuts were terribly sharp and cut me at the back of my ankles (a common spot). The only problem is that since I only shave twice a week I looked through the pack for so long I forgot which ones I liked! I'd suggest getting over your aversion to wasting blades and trying them all out to use up your stash quickly. Or write down your thoughts like another reviewer did.

  • Good workmanship

Useful way to try different brands

(men's review) After years of thoughtlessly using disposable cartridges I ended up using a double edge razor for a while. I've used Feather blades from the start because I used to use them in a straight razor that I sometimes used to trim my beard as I grew it. Feather blades are known for their sharpness; You'll have to be a bit conservative about shaving with them if you've never used them before. During the pandemic, the price of nibs skyrocketed (in Feb 2020 I bought a 100 pack for $22; a…

Separate reviews when using each blade; will be updated.

1st Blade: New Feather Hi Stainless Steel Blade Husband gives this blade an unbeatable 10th rating. He swears his superiority was undeniable and evident on the first shave and as of yesterday the seventh blade remains firm for a fully working shave. The husband explains that for a medical instrument, this blade is sharper than anything he has ever used. Even after I reminded him that he had no comparable medical career or experience with a medical instrument, he was firm and reliable in his…
