Why did not I think of this?
So simple and so useful. It works like a charm and if you don't finish your apple (or Asian pear or other hard fruit) just leave the slicer attached and store in the fridge until you want it, the fruit won't oxidize or take away unusual flavors. I love having 1 or 2 cheeses on a tray and letting guests play with them.
