First, don't listen to other reviewers, you don't need to modify the stand with your tools. Because this stand is boxed it fits the Xbox One X, so don't mess with the little protruding bristles that other reviewers seem to have "modified" by clipping them off. This actually helps your console lock onto the stand. And yes, the stand can be unlocked. All you have to do is line up the stand with the two holes in the Xbox One X, once inserted into the holes, press down on the console and slide up to lock the stand. Then you will hear a click and congratulations, the stand fits the Xbox One X with no modifications. The stand is actually very good, I bought it for $11 and it looks the same as the Microsoft version. I suggest following the instructions and you won't have to "modify" and damage your new stand. I strongly recommend not listening to other reviewers about the little stub.
