This review is for the second of two identical DVD players I have purchased for home use. The first died after about 90 days, and the second (now a year old) is showing similar signs of dying, such as dying. be shut down and restarted. I understand that because these turntables are so cheap they are probably made to very low quality standards. But the world's largest electronics manufacturers have been making disc reading hardware (CD and DVD players and recorders) for decades. and there are minimum levels of acceptable electronic reliability for every electronic product and component ever made, based on the known quality of the electronic components. So why does this product keep failing to meet that standard? I suspect that in order to achieve a certain profitability target, the minimum acceptable quality level of the components was sacrificed to achieve the bottom line. In this case, I'm betting that Sony hired an independent electronics manufacturer to buy a "cheap" player that was already available in the industry in some form, but in order to meet Sony's minimum profit per unit, Sony made bars. an independent manufacturer to lower its price for Sony. But in order to keep the minimum profit per unit as a goal, the manufacturer in turn was forced to use cheaper quality electronic components on its circuit boards in the Sony division. parts, which are probably "acceptable workmanship" but have nothing to do with the original circuit. This approach would still meet the initial quality checks that all independently manufactured parts go through as a requirement for sale to a large corporation like Sony, but also build a device that has a reduced lifespan due to the use of lower quality parts. Since most of these items only come with a 90-day warranty, while "most" devices sold last that long, Sony would consider this a successful device. That, my friends, is the very nature of "productivity." Force your suppliers to drop their prices, thereby forcing them to use parts that "closely" match original specifications.
