They shift well. In other words, just unscrew the old one and put the new one in, tighten and you're good to go. They clean well, but they don't last two or three uses because squeezing out the water also squeezes out the cleaner. After they wipe off the dirt, it should also separate from the sponge, but that's not easy to remove. You can scrape off a little, but most of it stays. Dog hair sticks like particles, so you're done after three uses. Perhaps they could be bought cheaper at Target or Walmart, but although I bought the mop at my local Walmart, they no longer have replacement sponges. I like Mr. clean's products. It's just that this one isn't that fuel efficient.
