Review on πŸ“Έ IOGEAR GFR204SD Green Card Reader/Writer: Enhance data transfer with SD/MicroSD/MMC compatibility by Matthew Rodenbaugh

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Inexpensive (in a good way) and works well with microSDHC

Some reviewers say this IOGEAR SD card reader doesn't work with microSDHC cards. That worried me. The card I wanted to read and write to is an 8GB microSDHC card. So the reader arrived today and I tried it out on my Windows 7 laptop. I popped a tiny card into the reader's microSD slot and plugged it in. Windows said it would install the device, which took about 20 seconds. I tried accessing the map and it was there. No problem. Some reviewers found the IOGEAR reader cheap. It seems to me that this is normal. Right, there isn't much in there. It's mostly plastic. But it seems strong enough. I'm happy with that. So far my user experience is only 2 hours so I may change my mind later. But so far I've only gotten what I wanted. And at a price that seems very reasonable. (There are two color options. I went green and the color is ok, although it's not the flashiest green I've seen. But pink, which as a pink hater I would never buy, costs another $5. What to do?) UPDATE: I found out why pink is more expensive. The pink features the Komen Foundation logo. I suspect the additional $5 will go to the Komen Foundation as a contribution to breast cancer research. Hence the price difference.
