Review on πŸ”₯ Enhanced Performance and Cooling: SilverStone ECM22 M.2 PCIE Adapter for SATA or PCIE NVMe SSD by Rene Carrell

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Works great with Samsung or WD Blue NVMe drives. Installed on an old PCIe v2.0 motherboard.

I will say briefly. This card was near perfect, but had to deduct a star for an inconsistent thermal paste pad. GOOD: - Works with both Samsung EVO 970 NVMe and WD Blue SSD B+M key drives. - No drivers are required to use with them. Windows 10 (1909). - Well designed and built, doesn't look cheap. - Setup and installation was easy, no problems. - WD Blue B+M Key works great as a primary boot drive connected to the SATA bus. - Works with old motherboard and chipset. One complaint: The thermal paste pads were uneven and inconsistent in size. One pad was much thicker than the other, so the pad didn't touch under the WD Blue M+B drive. This means there is a gap and the "heat" that the thermal paste is supposed to transfer to the metal coating isn't actually being transferred. I don't care how I mounted the MB. But if you're using a really hot install configuration, you might not be happy. My configuration: - Windows 10 (1909) - Intel i7-3770K @ 3.50 GHz - Gigabyte GA-H67A-UD3H-B3 (PCIe v2.0) - WD Blue SATA SSD M+B, for Windows boot drive. (Bus SATA 3.0) - Samsung 970 EVO NVMe, for game installations. (PCIe 2.0 x16 bus, card uses up to x4 lanes)

Pros
  • understandable for the old
Cons
  • clarity
