When my 12 year old daughter opened the Specdrum box, she immediately went to work, reading the instructions and loading the rings. Without wasting any time, as soon as they were charged, she started making music. At first she used the colored pillow included in our 2-ring set to create the sounds, but eventually switched to the fruit bowl on the kitchen table. It wasn't until the next day that it was her 8-year-old brother's turn. He loved making music and was so proud of the song he recorded and played for the whole family. This is such a wonderful product that will attract the whole family.
