I'm a bookbinder and I use this for final trimming of thick books. I don't use it for measuring - only for perpendicular cuts. I've never had a square that didn't need some tweaking. This one was no different. It was offset (slightly sharp) at the end of the blade by 0.0175 inches (0.445 mm). I was going to sand it anyway as the edges were pretty rough so I started with 280 wet/dry sandpaper on a piece of thick flat glass. When I finished everything was almost perfect. The blade was slightly bent at about the 8" mark, which I corrected by gently bending it between two blocks. I'm very happy with it and the thickness of the steel is really good as I don't expect it to fail as easily as my smaller and thinner squares.
