This is not software. I think they can be after 100 washes. I washed them 4 times when I received them. because they are prickly. Target's 400 thread threshold percale is much better. I bought these for my daughter's room because of the color. I hope for more washes. they become less prickly. I wouldn't recommend buying them because they are prickly. and so many folds at the edges. I just read online how to soften them and I'm going to try it because fabric softener doesn't work that well. Here's what I found online: If you want to soften stiff new sheets, put them in the washing machine and add 1 cup of baking soda instead of regular laundry detergent. Wash sheets in warm water as usual. When it's time for the rinse cycle, turn on the cold cycle and add 1 cup of white vinegar to the machine.
