Review on πŸ–₯️ Ingcool 7 Inch HDMI LCD: High-resolution Capacitive Touch Screen Module for Raspberry Pi 4, 3, 2, 1 B B+ A+ & PC – Compatible with Windows 10/8.1/8/7 by Jennifer Davis

Nice display, but colors could be better.

Neat display. Slightly lower cost among affordable 7-inch HDMI displays. I like the placement of the ports in the middle of the board on the back so they don't protrude on the sides. Fairly bright, but I don't find good color contrast, especially with dark colors. Black is black, but the display of gray or blue on black, e.g. B. on a console is difficult to see unless the fonts are large. I usually like dark desktops, but light themes are better on this display as there is no contrast with dark colors and edges. 1024 x 600 is better than the 800 x 480 Pi Foundation display. 1024x600 is a bit strange ratio though, my Pi has always tried to set it to 1024x768 which the display accepts but obviously with a strange scaling so the fonts are fuzzy. I needed to create an X11 configuration file (see below) for the Manjaro distribution I'm using. On the board this is hdmi0 and in X11 it is hdmi-1) . I haven't tested the capacitive touchscreen yet. +vsync Option "PreferredMode" "1024x600"EndSectionSection "Screen" Identifier "Screen0" Monitor "HDMI-1" DefaultDepth 24 SubSection "Display " Modes "1024x600" EndSubSectionEndSectionSection " Device" Identifier "Device0" Driver "modesetting"EndSection
