This tree skirt is so cute (I love dogs so much!) and to my surprise it's actually waterproof! soft satin material. I was skeptical that it would be waterproof until I tested it (see attached waterdrop image. It just unrolled, didn't penetrate at all!). It has ties at the bottom to hold the two sides together, although I didn't tie it and it still stays in place. So. The reason I needed a waterproof wooden skirt is because I have a male dog that came to me when he was 2 years old, wasn't housebroken and was spayed just before I took him. He wants to celebrate everything. He seems to be having some sort of homeschooling trauma and here I am 5 years later with a dog that just won't stop peing on things. The Christmas tree is the main goal (I think that's a tree for him, but trees are for peeing on?). I set it up so that he wouldn't get close enough to pee on a real tree, but if he tries anyway, it all ends up on the tree's skirt or on the ground. Last year his urine kept leaking through the wood apron cleaner) damaging the floor in several places until he realized he was going through it. Luckily my floors are in need of repair anyway, but I still prefer to avoid big stains so I can delay repairs. It's surprisingly difficult to find a waterproof skirt made out of wood. I thought there were many of these, but after several days of searching I only found one that actually says it's waterproof. I was concerned it was only 36 inches but I have a fairly narrow tree so I figured that would be enough. And I was wrong. It's not big enough. I really like the design, so I still think it's worth 5 stars. Haven't found a bigger skirt that says waterproof yet, so this will be my tree skirt this year anyway. If I can find a larger waterproof tree skirt, I'll probably still want to throw that over because DOGS!
