Great bluetooth adapter

dongle which I have used before So far using my 15 year old Shure IEM headphones with my iPhone 7plus without the jack has produced a SO loud beep and I couldn't control it I was in the market for anything. It also didn't stay connected to my body well unless it was near my phone (like in the same pocket. Kinda doesn't make sense), so I looked for something with a belt clip. I chose between BTR3, BTR3K and BTR5. I finally settled on the BTR3K because it was available faster than the BTR3 on Revain and at the last minute I decided that the BTR5 would probably be overkill given the headphones I have and the iPhone only supports AAC. So I'm just diving into better DACs/amps and not doing anything too crazy, and for $60 good sound quality with a clip button sounds great to me. The sound is great - I'm not expecting much and you have to focus on what you're hearing to notice the difference, but yeah: the fancy DAC/amp sounds better/more detailed/brighter than my MacBook Pro's headphones, that's it Pretty. 5 stars for the tiny $60 device. The reason I downgraded 4 stars for portability is because the BTR3 has a built in clip and I would like it to be built in 3K as well. It's a great looking device but ultimately I'd be happy that it's mostly metal with a built in metal clip as it clips to your belt and ends up in the bottom of your backpack from time to time. I also subtracted a star from the volume control because the fast forward and rewind (or skip forward and back) controls aren't what I expect to be standard (I'd expect: 1 button click for play/pause, 2 clicks for Jump forward and 3 clicks to go back, but BTR3 asks you to hold the volume up or down button for 2 seconds to jump in either direction). The volume control is also a little tricky to master as the headphone jack is on the bottom, which for some reason I can't understand on a device of this size. . The volume control itself is less of a problem than the skip controls as I use skip a lot when listening to podcasts which is what I do with the BTR3K and if I hold the button for 2 seconds I go back 15 seconds and again it's pretty labor intensive. Overall, I really like the BTR3K because it makes it easier for me to use my wired headphones that I like with great sound quality. The criticism I have is rather minor and I don't regret in any way that I didn't buy another device.

Pros
  • Bluetooth indicator light + iOS Siri call + inline control (on headphones with CTIA control you can use the mic as well as play/pause, volume and track select controls)
Cons
  • Requires a socket
