Out of the box it was fluffy, beautiful and very soft. I always wash things before use, so I wash them on delicate/cold and tumble dry on gentle/low with balls to reduce the lint factor. I don't have the opportunity to dry things of this size in winter. The end result was disappointing as some spots were terribly messed up while others remained intact and silky/fluffy. Since I have already washed it, I do not return the money, but the appearance is no longer the same. I took the brush to the tangles and it helped, but the overall length and down of the fur side is totally uneven. Hopefully rope drying will avoid this problem, but I won't buy another to find out. :(
