After one day my freezer accidentally opened (after being slammed shut) and I lost about $400 worth of steaks, I decided I needed an alarm. My first alarm clock was a fancy device that connected to my phone. Well it was difficult to set up, didn't work well and the house alarm wasn't loud enough. This device works perfectly. It's cheaper, easy to set up, and the alarm is loud enough to be heard throughout my house. It doesn't send messages to my phone when I'm not home, but I'll take a chance. Just check the freezer door every time you close it!
