Review on Mungyo Gallery Soft Oil Pastels Set of 24 - Explore a Vibrant Assortment of Colors by Michelle Langley

Photo shows gallery colors but what I received was a student photo, not a gallery photo.

I bought these a few months ago when I first started using oil pastels. I didn't realize at the time that the Mungyo Gallery line was very different in quality from their student class, so I didn't realize that I was not receiving the box shown in the photo but a cheap box from their student class. I recently stopped by the local Jerry's Artarama, where they stock Mungyo Gallery oil pastels, and bought some of the paints I needed. That's when I realized what I was getting in this set wasn't the gallery. The Gallery Colors are wrapped in completely different paper (foil backed), very soft and excellent quality and cost around $2.50 each. Had I looked closely at a photo online and compared it to the pastel in the box I received I would have known it was a different set and would have returned it immediately. If you purchase this box, be sure to check each pastel has the word "Gallery" on it when it arrives. If that's not the case and it just says "Mungyo Oil Pastels," then you have some very cheap (and really awful) paints for school kids that cost around $5. Also check out my review of the Mungyo Gallery Wooden Box of 72 Colors. Real Gallery pastels at Jerry's and I really liked them and decided to buy a whole box of 72 colors from Revain. When they arrived the outer cellophane wrapper said 'Gallery' but when I took it off the insides were cheap student quality colors Don't say "gallery" on any of them Needless to say I sent them back straight away!
