Stick with the media pack version.
I bought two bottles of Seachem Purigen (to save money) but will be going back to pouches (media bags) once those two bottles run out. The free Purigen just doesn't work as well as the media packs. I've bought media bags for loose puring and it stays in, but it doesn't purify the water as much as the media bag option. It's more expensive, but I'll stick with the bags.
