2013 F150 Platinum Sunroof Repair

I bought this to replace sunroof rail parts that broke on my truck last year (2013 F150 Platinum Crew Cab). Parts came quickly, and after spending another $50 on some tools I didn't already have, I ended up with about $100. I watched AutoRex's "'09 - '14 Ford F-150 Sunroof Repair COMPLETE GUIDE" on Youtube before starting the repair and it helped a lot. The video shows the repair from start to finish and AutoRex provides you with all Torx sizes and I also bought some butyl sealant just in case and ended up needing it because I couldn't get the old butyl sealant to spread over the areas where it was originally applied. Complete with parts wasn't enough either but I had some more lube and I needed quite a bit.The parts themselves turned out to be exactly the same as the original broken parts I took out. Each side was also labeled left and right and separate packed in a box.My American laziness failed me when I decided not to remove the passenger seat and figured I could fix the rail assembly g improve without removing the seat. Some reviewers said they were successful, but I didn't. I spent about 10 minutes trying to get the caterpillar out before finally giving up. Rather than concede defeat, however, I used my American ingenuity and decided to make repairs while the track assembly was in my truck on my lowered ceiling. I am proud to say that this repair method may not be traditional, but it is possible. It was a little awkward to do this type of repair and would probably take twice as long if I pulled the chain out of the truck, but it worked. Everything reassembled and the sunroof works as it should. Just make sure you drop the sunroof like in the video. The only negative for me about all of this repair was that I dropped the top bolt off the center passenger pillar. The bolt fell into the underside of my truck and I was never able to find it. I think the $1600-$1800 I saved by giving it to the dealer might be enough to buy another screw. The whole repair took about 4.5 hours. This spare parts kit is perfect for my truck.
