I have one of the early Garmin GPS and heart watches which has served me well for a while but is heavy and large on the wrist. But for many years I have not had any failures, although the search for satellites takes a very long time. This unit is amazing. It finds them quickly and is very easy to use. After a day of use, I was able to determine what information I wanted to see during my workout, and the controls are so few that they're almost intuitive to use. The watch fits your wrist perfectly and the chest strap works well although I find it odd that you have 3 wet spots including one that is very different from any other heart strap I have and I have several for different devices, so I'm very used to using this type of chest strap. I think one downside is that the instructions on how to set it up are okay, but setting up the exercise tracking software is pretty lacking. I work in IT so it's not that I don't know how to set up hardware and software, but it took me a while to figure it out. I still wonder what the point of downloading it straight away to your phone if it doesn't then download it to the Garmin website. I'm not sure I want to track every workout on my phone with limited storage if it has to be uploaded to a website. I think if you think about it, it would be nice to have a backup on your PC like you would with old software. The old software was actually hosted on your PC. Charging has become easier and connecting to a PC is also quite easy as it uses a USB connection. Why you have to use two apps to get the data and then view the details is a bit confusing. But the amount of details you get while browsing the site is quite extensive. Not sure if you might be missing something. It even includes some data, which is nice to have, but there were more recording issues than it was worth to me, including local weather. Haven't used it at the gym on a treadmill but I think it will work as advertised. Of course there are some data spikes along the way, which can be more important when training in a big city where signals can be lost more often than in my area. I consider this issue to be trivial in terms of my satisfaction and it is indeed minimal and really a result of GPS limitations and not the device. In fact, I think it's more accurate than the GPS I use when hiking in the woods. In summary, I think this is an incredible device and I have no regrets with my purchase.
