About this product good for network products

I got this hub today because it seems like a really good idea. I connected my iPad Pro to try it but it doesn't work. It shows a blue light (power), but neither charges the iPad nor reads USB sticks. After some research online, I found that some of these hubs require a firmware update. To do this, you must upgrade to HYPERDRIVE. site. After the update everything works.
