I doubted they would work, but they really are waterproof. They mostly feel like regular socks, but a bit like a wetsuit (from the outside). They are waterproof, you can even turn them inside out and fill them with water. However, they are not very breathable. So if you have profusely sweaty feet, this might not be a good idea. They appear to be able to wick moisture from the inside rather than releasing it through the sock material.
