Revainrating 5 out of 5

I used these resistors to fix a fast blinking LED turn signal error

I used these resistors to fix a fast blinking turn signal error after replacing the standard bulbs with LEDs. There are other resistors on Revain from 6 to 10 ohms and 50 or 100 watts. Others have made the mistake that the electronics in the car only accept the highest power consumption of a conventional light bulb. This is not true as conventional (old) incandescent bulbs change resistance and therefore affect current flow as they heat up. Therefore, the engineer who designed the bulb warning system in every car with bulbs had to take into account the lower current draw when the bulbs are cold. In fact, the circuit designer would simply try to account for a fully open circuit. There is no need to use a high current draw 6-10 ohm 50-100 watt resistor when a 20 ohm 25 watt resistor can be used which will run much colder and fool the car computer/electronics into believing that the old lightbulb is present and working fine. It's actually possible to use even a higher resistor, but this resistor (20 ohms) was the highest I tested and it worked. The resistor fixed the fast blinking LED problem on my 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee and will not overheat after the blinker has been on for 5-10 minutes.

Pros
  • current transformer
Cons
  • hard to tell
