EDIT. Skip that router and buy ASUS RT-N66U. I bought it and I have 95-99 mb/s on BOTH channels. Can't recommend enough. I bought this router after reading many reviews online about a router that can deliver the 'fastest' wireless signal on the market. I came across this model several times and it was sold at 300Mbps at 2.4GHz. I knew that 5GHz wouldn't give me much range due to the size of my house and I was right. I pay for 100Mbps download speed and get it when connected directly to my cable modem. Mix and I connect my computer directly to the wifi router, I get that 100Mbps with no problem. Turn on WiFi and turn my PC to it and the speed drops to 52Mbps. It's about 5ft from the router, there's nothing between us. Somehow 48% of my traffic just ends up in the black hole. This applies to both 2.4GHz and 5GHz channels. Worked with tech support for a couple of hours. They made me tweak a lot of settings that allowed me to get up to 62Mbps wirelessly. I was still losing 38% throughput. I've tried every channel available on 2.4GHz but couldn't get any better at 62Mbps. They boast that data rates are up to 300Mbps on 2.4GHz and 450Mbps on 5GHz. It will not. Towards the end of my support call, they tried to blame my wireless adapter for this. I've checked and it's rated to support up to 300Mbps as well. I have the latest drivers for it. Then they moved on to the fact that I needed to update the firmware for the router. This was the latest version available. As a last resort they tried to interest me in buying an e6500 as it would surely give me the speed I needed. (NO THANKS) One more note. Since 2.4 GHz delivers 62 Mbps, the download speed when I was sitting next to it was around 3 Mbps in the home office. The router showed 3 out of 5 signal bars, but when starting from 62 Mbps it was only outputting 3 Mbps. I've since hooked up my old router, which can't handle 100Mbps, but is sending 39Mbps to my office with no problem from the same location as this one, which can only send 3Mbps. Avoid this router at all costs. I sent this one back and ordered an ASUS RT-N66U hoping it would do the job better.
