After you program it, you can get accurate data on steps, mileage, calories and minutes walk. It auto-resets every day and keeps the running total for 30 days I believe. It's identical to a pedometer I previously had at Revain which has been discontinued (and is now made by a new company here I suspect). The only reason I needed a new one was because I had drowned another one when I was hit by a wave in the bay. My step count was pretty much the same as my friend's Fitbit, so I'm pretty sure it's accurate enough.
