I did not use the product through the top of the tube, but unscrewed the cap and placed a drop of dye in a zip-lock pouch. As they say, you move from darkness to light by mixing colors. I used a wooden stick for this step, but you can also use a paint spatula. I then started working on the broken edge towards the corner. It stays wet for some time so you don't have to work too fast. Just adjust as needed to get a blended solution. It was thick enough not to run down the sides of my counter. It wiped easily in unwanted places, for example a non-broken countertop spilled a bit but came off immediately. In general I am satisfied with the results. I put on a clear corner protector when dry to protect in the future as I'm not clear at this point if the product will be tough enough to withstand the random iteration that got me here in the first place.
