Seems to work well: Household sensors and alarms

When the device is turned on, the readings are high at first, then eventually slowly fall back. I assumed that once this process was complete, the device would be warmed up and ready to use. About a minute or 90 seconds. As the sensitivity increases, more time is required. I've found that if you turn the sensitivity dial too far, the meter gives high readings. I took the unit outside and adjusted the sensitivity until it reached a high reading, then slowly decreased it until there was a faint ticking noise, indicating the absence of flammable gas. This sets the unit for the background levels. I then took it inside to measure the new lines and the range I bought it for. Didn't find any leaks. To test this, I turned on the burner for a second without letting it ignite. The device reported a high rate, confirming its performance. I recommend moving the device slowly and steadily, pausing for a few seconds at each point you test. I found that I wasn't completely turning off the burners on the stove when I noticed the unit showed a small response to the burner output, but only after a few seconds. Therefore, very small amounts above background may not give an immediate response. If I had to do it all over again, I could spend a few bucks more on a digital readout device, but this device is certainly good enough for a basic leak/no leak. testing.
