May need a surge protector
I bought this 'add-on" to replace the bell unit on a full set that I had bought earlier. The bell unit on that one went bad after just 3 months. I've speculated that it was susceptible to an energy surge. So, I've plugged this one into the surge protector that I use for my computer.
