Review on Kumho Ecsta PS31 225/45 R17 94W summer by Mateusz Praga ᠌

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Perfect product for any user!

On the Audi A3, I measured out to have 225/45 ZR17 94W XL tires installed. After 66,000 kilometers, the OEM Dunlop SPORT MAXX 225/45 R17 91W tires were completely worn out. It is time for a change, but because of the high price tags, my budget has become more restrictive, therefore I have been forced to make a decision based on an average cost. I selected this one after reading a ton of reviews, waiting for a seasonal sale, and receiving a tavern as a present. Regarding the quality of the craftsmanship, they were created in Vietnam, and they have a respectable appearance and feel sturdy. Undoubtedly, this is not a Dunlop; the soft sides raise serious concerns. But in terms of softness, the tires will even be more comfortable in some ways, the joints and irregularities have become less sensitive, and this is in plus, they behave steadily in a straight line, there is even a certain pleasantness from driving, and in terms of noise they are also in plus, only a comfortable rustling of tires from the road. It does throw a little bit when it gets into a rut, but this is not a major issue because many tires in such a profile respond in the same way. They are not swift in acceleration and lose a lot of ground to Dunlop, while an audible rumbling increases louder. This rumble is not bothersome, but it does have some sort of impression that is intended to be sporty. They become wadded when repositioned along the strip, and they do not possess the characteristic sharpness that is shared by members of the Dunlop family. Nevertheless, for a controlled and measured ride, they are more than adequate, and despite what the manufacturer promises, these are not sport tires but rather extremely pleasant ones. In general, I kind of liked it. The only thing about the wheel's longitudinal central rib that puzzles me is that it has waves in it. Every other tire manufacturer has a longitudinal rib with a straight shape and rectangular grooves along the groove, both of which contribute to the wheel's increased directional stability. When I first bought it, I didn't pay much attention to it; however, when I saw it, I was scared. I thought that they had probably pumped it over during installation, and that the deformation had occurred while I was driving. When I saw the images on the computer, however, I was able to calm down and realize that Korean engineers probably have a better handle on the situation. PS: I'll add a note after the fact after I've used it during the appropriate season. It turned out that the tires were so flimsy and delicate that when they were changed, one of them revealed a quite significant cut from the stone, while the other tires appeared to be brand new. Reach a verdict on the matter.

Pros
  • Good. For a tire that has a price that is low and quite exceeds competitors, the best in its sector, it has good directional stability, braking, and handling, which are qualities that are beyond praise. The room was quiet and comfortable. Protection for the disk. Premium.
Cons
  • Soft side. The rebuild is not very crisp and does not have any sporting qualities. The maneuverability is different compared to when using UHP tires. There is a whistle heard when the emergency brakes are applied; Dunlop has never acted in this manner before; you shouldn't rely on a short brake like UHP.
