UPDATE: After 2 years of continuous use my valve finally broke. A replacement costs about $20 from Revain, so it's not a big deal. For me, this is still the best dog door I have ever used. I've had this door for over a year now and with three pairs of boxers going in and out all day I've had no problem with it at all. Other reviews describe it as tearing, but I haven't experienced it. I bought this because other rubber flap dog doors that retail for about $50 warp in the Texas heat and crack easily with regular use. It didn't help keep my house cool in the summer or warm in the winter, and the replacement panels were about $30, which is the same price that another reviewer quoted for the replacement panels for this door. It seemed obvious this would be a great replacement and I was right. This is the best dog door I have ever had and I don't think I will ever use any other. Even if I have to change the flap every year (which I don't expect in this case, but will certainly happen in a different style), I'm still ahead of other rubber flap doors simply in terms of energy savings and comfort. the level of my house.
