5 years and first damper change

I have had this dog flap for 5 years and only now have to replace the damper. The seal is wonderful, it perfectly protects against bad weather. Even the cat figured out how to use it. For the first three years it was used by relatively calm dogs coming through the door. In the last two years we've added another dog that thinks a run is the best form of entry.

Best Draft Proof Pet Door

We've tried different types of pet doors over the years and this one definitely won. This design reduces drafts much better than rubber flap models because the panel is divided into three sub-panels. The only problem is that it is difficult to install with mounting screws, but this has been a problem with other models as well. I recommend using a frame edge seal when installing in a door with recessed panels to avoid drafts from the frame edges.

Poor build quality

I installed the dog flap on November 27, 2019. It is now March 2nd, 2020 and the rod holding the sash in the opening has slipped to the side, allowing the sash to fall off. If you attempt to reinstall the shock without completely disassembling it, there will not be enough room to slide the rod back through the hole in the frame on the opposite side. I was hoping this would help my dog eat the flexible valve my previous door had, but either way the huge gaping hole in my door lets the cold…

Great door, especially in cold weather or in high wind areas.

So nice to have a new one, I forgot how clear the plastic flap was from our last one lying so long. We have been installing this type of dog door for over 12 years (this is our third). We chose it for the heavier flap as we have strong afternoon winds. In the past we only replaced the flap, but this time we needed a completely new door. We have a strong canine movement, dogs of all sizes, we also have a cat that uses them. Easy to install and with a heavier valve I feel more confident that my…

Was installed in about 4 weeks when mine was heavily used.

Installed now for my 4 dogs. Holds up well so far. Even the little 6 pound dog figured out how to get through. A very shy, very small dog may need a little more time to UPDATE after just over 4 months of limited use. I enter the room and find the hole wide open. The bottom 2 valve just fell off, before that I didn't even see or notice any cracks or loosening. This dog is NOT useful if you have multiple dogs, agile dogs, or larger dogs. I also noticed a few weeks ago that the wings didn't close…

Perfect for doors, gates and ramps

UPDATE: After 2 years of continuous use my valve finally broke. A replacement costs about $20 from Revain, so it's not a big deal. For me, this is still the best dog door I have ever used. I've had this door for over a year now and with three pairs of boxers going in and out all day I've had no problem with it at all. Other reviews describe it as tearing, but I haven't experienced it. I bought this because other rubber flap dog doors that retail for about $50 warp in the Texas heat and crack…

We love it. dogs love it.

I highly recommend this door. We bought these to replace our 10 year old dog door for two medium sized dogs. We got the XL door because our dogs are now 12 and 13 and we thought a bigger door might make it easier for them to get in and out. The downside of the big door is that the kids (3 and 4) also think it's for them. Installation was quick and easy. The scariest part is the first cut in a brand new 3/4 glass door that we bought just for this purpose. We use a screen door installed mainly…

EXCELLENT DRAF-FREE EXCELLENT QUALITY

I've had two pet doors before and both were drafty. My door has raised panels so there were a few small gaps where the pet door frame was not making contact with the door. I used a styrofoam rod to fill in the gaps. The pet door is so tight now that if I open another door you can hear that door sucking in a little (doesn't open, you just hear it sucking in a little). If your door doesn't have raised panels and is smooth you don't need a support bar, although I put one in the "guides" to give a…

Great dog door.: Doors

When we bought the house a few years ago it already had dog doors installed. To go outside, the dog must go through one dog door from the entrance to the garage, and through the second dog door from the garage onto the street. The first dog door was a flimsy, single leaf, small door that blasted through the front of our house and down the stairs. Essentially, we threw out our heat. Not to mention our lab mix never made it, especially after gaining weight over the last few years. In the end we…
