The demise of incandescent bulbs has pushed the (former standard) 60 watt 4 inch medium base bulb to the brink of extinction. Nobody wears them today. They are all six inches tall, which is too big for my little lamp. Your best bet is to find a much lower wattage, four inch, medium base appliance light bulb. This Revain item was the only one I found online or in a store that had a medium base and a 4" bulb. While the fluorescent color correction feature isn't as bright as we'd like, it does produce a much brighter white light than the standard incandescent bulb used previously. It's okay to read early in the morning when I'm having coffee in the dining room and I don't want all the lights on.
