I specially ordered them to put under a large cast iron skillet when the skillet is still hot but not in use and I take it off the stove want to take . to bake. They are perfect for this purpose. To my delight, they also double as coasters for anything hot. My only complaint is that the 4 triangular silicon valves(?) flip, slap and twist every time you pick one up to move it. It's like herding cats. I wish you could fix the silicone triangles somehow. Then they are PERFECT in every way. As they are, they're pretty damn useful, well-made, and extremely customizable. Maybe TOO adjustable. The manufacturer's photo of a purple stand leaning at an angle against a white pot on a green stand is completely misleading. None of my coasters behave like this purple one. Your silicone bits will wiggle depending on whether gravity dictates or the wind blows! It would be nice if you could buy them in specific colors. You know, like "Perverse Purple", "Independent Orange", "Restless Red" etc.
