Bought this as a Christmas present for my husband and he loves it. I read the reviews and there were some negative ones but after using one a friend loaned me for a retreat last month I knew what I was getting. It was just perfect for adding some warmth to the bedding, which was pretty scarce in this oceanfront condo we rented. It was the middle of winter (rather harsh for the Oregon Coast) and it was COLD at night. After complaining about the cold my hostess lent it to me and it sure kept me warm for the rest of the trip. It's true that a throw doesn't have much down, but it's sufficient for most purposes, the company doesn't claim it's not the same as a large blanket or a sleeping bag in sub-zero temperatures, it's meant for snuggling up and snuggling with one to keep you warm on a cold evening, and it does this job superbly. My friend had it in her car where she kept it as an emergency blanket and I bought a second one to do just that. It folds into a small bag (I bought it separately) and takes up very little space in my car. Another "plus" in my opinion is the fabric it's made of. A lot of these blankets (which aren't meant to be stuffed with a duvet cover) either have a rough decorative finish, or in some cases are made out of that slippery nylon that easily slips off you and rustles as well. Its coating is thin and velvety, a rather unusual texture for something like this, I really like it. If you're looking for a duvet for your bed, look elsewhere, but if you're looking for a duvet cover for your sofa to keep you warm on a cold evening, this is great.
