Review on Powerful Electric Heater: Mr. Heater 3.6KW / 12,283 BTU / 240-Volt Forced Air by Tim Knain

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Good heat, Quiet, No odor.

Make sure you know what you are buying. This is a 240v 20amp model so you will need that specific type of electrical outlet. I've tried a 120v model and they are worthless. I have also had a kerosene blower heater for years which i was tired of the smell and noise. This Mr. Heater unit is a good compromise. It will take about a half hour to get a single car garage to a workable temperature but it's nice to have the very low noise and no smell. I use this unit in a single car garage that is semi insulated when it has been around 40F outside. It made the whole garage workable again, by workable I mean I still had to wear at least a sweat shirt. The unit has a thermostat but its max setting seems to low. When reaching its max temperature the heating coils will turn off for about 10 seconds and then cycles the heating coils on again for about a minute. If it didn't cycle as much I could see it heating the garage quicker since for a short period of time it just blows cold air. I believe other electric heaters do the same since other reviewers have complained of units not delivering heat when it is already in a warm area.

Pros
  • Multicolor
Cons
  • High Operating Cost: The Mr. Heater 3.6KW / 12,283 BTU / 240-Volt Forced Air heater consumes a lot of electricity, which results in a high operating cost that could quickly add up on your utility bills
