I bought this X acto cutter to replace a 12 inch Dahle cutter I was using. I had to upgrade to cut and trim large sheets of art paper. So far I've successfully cut 140lb mixed media paper, 200lb watercolor paper, and heavy Yupo. I love the heavy locking mechanism which is designed to be secure and hold the blade down. When cutting, be sure to raise the blade all the way up so the cut is accurate. Due to the construction of the cutter you cannot cut small pieces of paper, I would recommend a rotary trimmer for this. You can't cut a large amount of paper, which is great for my needs. I was able to cut several heavy sheets at once, but they were difficult to align accurately. Be careful with the blade. I accidentally hit the blade while moving my hand back and forth to cut through a large amount of paper and sustained a small cut. The cutter is recommended for adult use and should not be used around small children or pets, in accordance with common sense.
