The pattern is deep enough

for embossing cookie dough. There were some reviews stating that it was wrong, or that the dark color at the base of the pattern was something bad, or that there were shards. None of this applied to the product I received. Cleaning can take a while when you dip the batter into these slots, but you expect it to get in. I found that by flouring well/shaking out the excess I got a better drawing and the roller came out fine. I had a great time with him, great cookies.
