The maximum wattage of this lamp is a reasonable equivalent to the low wattage of my Torchiere lamp when fitted with a 150w halogen lamp, but this is much less light than the maximum output of a true 150w halogen lamp. The color temperature is also warmer than halogen and will flicker when the lamp is set to low temperature. The only real benefit of these lights is that they don't get hot enough to burn wayward bugs like a true halogen bulb does.
