Review on πŸŒ€ AC Infinity AIRCOM S6: Silent 12" Rear-Exhaust Cooling System for Receivers, Amps, DVRs, AV Cabinets by Timothy Jimenez

Revainrating 5 out of 5

I'm a little overwhelmed. no pun.

I bought this to try and cool down an Onkyo receiver sitting in a fairly small Ikea cabinet with no front doors and minimal rear ventilation. I'm not sure what I was expecting, but whatever those expectations were, they were exceeded. This block comes well packaged from the start with a nifty manual. When unpacking the device, I immediately noticed how robust it looked. At least I thought it bolted well. The installation was very simple: plug it in and place it on the receiver. I played around with the settings a bit but found the "Smart Mode" to be the best option. I also liked how you can turn off the fan speed indicator since it's pretty bright. In operation, the fans are very quiet, except that they run at maximum speed. It's worth noting that this never happened with my device in smart mode, even after several hours of Onkyo. Typically after 20 minutes the Onkyo gets too hot to the touch because there's only about 2 inches of clearance above the unit and the air just sits and heats up (the Onkyo cools mostly passively). I clearly ordered the wrong size fan, but despite this, this little beast got rid of the heat with no problem. After a full 3 hours of use, the top of my Onkyo felt cool. I can't describe how amazing this is considering it cooks even when it's on an open shelf. Wow! I'm so impressed I've ordered a second console fan (bigger this time) and will be moving it to my spare room to cool the smaller receiver. It's not that I really need a bigger device as this device gets the job done, but I think I like the aesthetics of a full 17 inch device more. Highly recommend for anyone with hotboxes! :)

Pros
  • Quiet fan system for cooling routers, modems, game consoles and other AV components.
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.
