USB 2.0 speeds are good for computers and accessories

I only get USB 3.0 speeds when the cables are plugged in a certain orientation (rotating the USB cable 180 turns the speed up to USB 2.0 reduced) and there is no obvious at first glance to determine in which mode it works. The attached images show the difference in speed with a USBC hard drive, the only difference between runs is the cable orientation.
