Review on Enhanced Precision - AmScope B120C Magnification Illumination Double Layer Microscope by Roman Starr

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Exceeded expectations! Before.

Media could not be loaded. I bought this microscope and it exceeded all expectations! The picture quality is very bright and clear. I spent hours looking through pond samples the first day etc. New hobby! Hopefully this will bring the average up to 4.5 and everyone will start buying this slimmer microscope instead of the OMAX. There is a tiny bit of plastic hanging from one of my plastic handles, probably from where they injected the plastic at the factory, but I could probably ditch it. out. Also a small scratch on the handle. Not enough to deduct from its 5 star rating. Edit: Buy it on eBay from AmScope for $154.99 instead! I spoke to two managers in customer service and they were unable to adjust the price or give me a credit to my Revain account. They told me to return it for a full refund, which I did. The package from eBay also appeared in about three days. Update 6/16/19: [mail AmScope on eBay] Hello, I have two problems with my microscope: the condenser handle is loose and it will slowly fall off. This is extremely inconvenient when trying to use it in a dark field. That needs to be tightened. I propped him up by placing paper under him for support. The axis bumps against the condenser lens and even catches the knob on the lens cap to slowly unscrew it. This occurs when the darkfield condenser is fully raised (minus about a millimeter) and you are looking at the lower left corner of the slide. The slide glass cover is dead, if you look at the underside of the slide and slowly move to the left, the rack will hit the condenser and you cannot move the stage further to the right. If you do this, the y-axis will suddenly move forward as the table is rubbing against the capacitor and the table has nowhere to move. You'll see your master, and scrolling to the left corner of the slide will force you to move up and left, obscuring the actual corner.

Pros
  • Compound microscope provides high magnification for biological and educational applications.
Cons
  • Some little things.
