I install these curtains on a north facing window in the brightest part of the day. Unfortunately I overlooked the length of the curtain (ordered 63" instead of 84") and will be using it for another project and will order 84". I expect all light to be blocked except what is peeking out from above, once I replaced it with the right length and that's not too bad.The curtains are light, smooth and shiny, but if you look closely, light penetrates through the material, but this isn't enough to take out the darkness of the room Very happy I made this purchase, super purchase. The curtain rod was hung 5" above the top of the window. Cannot comment on the soundproofing as the windows face the quietest part of the house.
