I wanted to try a 3/4 helmet so I bought this one. Here are my pros and cons. Pros: 1) Price - less than $110, DOT and ECE certified. The Obvi doesn't have a Snell rating as it has a retractable sun visor and is an open face bike helmet. 2) The sun visor was what I was looking for. I'm older so I have to wear distance correcting glasses when riding and the sun visor fits over them with no issues or distortion.3) Very light - my size Large weighs 2.47 lbs (1120 grams)4) Comes with a helmet bag.5) Comfortable fit on a large, non-pressing head and cheeks. It used to be 20-25 years ago that the medium size fitted snugly and the large size was a bit roomier (full face helmets). A face helmet and even large helmets squeeze my cheeks. The LS2 Spitfire plus size helmet is very comfortable. Cons: 1) This open face helmet is noisy/noisy in the wind. Even with the sun visor down. I would probably take this helmet for city riding at slower speeds or when it's really hot outside. Definitely safer/quieter forward facing. 2) The ratchet strap is polarized. Either you like it or you don't like it. Also, since it's not a double D-ring, you probably can't use this helmet with a helmet lockout system. that depends on the D-ring closure 3) Rain hurts your open mouth/cheeks like cicadas at 75mph (see photo) 4) The goggle strap on the back is NOT removable - how is it really? 5) There are no three front bars on the forehead if you plan to add a front visor or bladder guard. 6) It's an open helmet - if you fall and land on your face, yes = you won't be protected.
