Review on πŸ’§ Express Water 50 Pack Sediment Water Filter Replacement - 5 Micron, High Capacity - Ideal for Under Sink and Reverse Osmosis Systems (FLTSED0550) by Chantel Cooper

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Low entry price, but more expensive and difficult to actually use.

I have been using 5 micron sediment filters in the same house for 27 years. I've used big brands and smaller brands, used rotary filters and wrap-around filters. These are by far the worst and in fact the most expensive and time consuming and need to be changed at least 4-5 times more often than ANY other filter I've used. Bought 50 of these 13 months ago and gave them a fair price. Study. do they filter Yes. But they clog very quickly, clogging on the first millimeter of the surface (see first photo) without using the inside of the filter. Once they start to clog, instead of filtering in the filter layers, the filter actually forms channels outward (see second photo) and does no filtering. For people in the well: You notice that when you are on well water with a pressure system. If your pressure drops before the pump kicks in, the channels will become small and the water flow will drop. As soon as the pump turns on and the pressure in the tank rises, the water is pushed through the channels, resulting in (almost) normal water flow, but it is not filtered because it flows through the channels and not the filter. If you're using constant-pressure municipal water, you won't know it's not filtering properly until even the channels stop working. So you can buy them for about $1.40 each and change them 5 times more often for a net use value of about $7. Or you can buy other brands for $3-5 each, which is cheaper overall. In addition, you do not waste time and do not wear out the filter housing by constantly opening it. The filters are individually wrapped, look nice and fit well. But not worth the price, not worth the performance, not worth the hassle.
