Bought this for a family member who had a stroke almost 3 years ago. During the night her arm continued to bend in a strange twist that hurt her. This brace has helped her keep her arm in a better position and she says it helps her feel better/less hurt as much. It has a hard shape but very soft foam on the inside next to the hand. The velcro could be stronger - no special force is required to remove the straps. Foam can be wiped with a damp cloth, easy to clean. I love how this brace goes further down from the wrist to the hand to give the entire hand and wrist together more support. It's designed to fit a specific hand, so make sure you order the right one for the hand you'll be wearing it on - it won't fit every hand.
