How can it be so bad?!?

I never thought that something as simple as a dipstick could become so badly damaged. But I was wrong. Very wrong. Good: It's the same length as the one it replaces and the markings are in exactly the same place, which is important. It's also quite similar in color and fits well as it should. You might think this is a good product. But no, NOT AT ALL. The Bad: The hatch pattern they use is insanely bad. Why should it matter? It turns out that it is very important! Ugly: First, if dirt gets on the dipstick, it will NOT come out and you have to pour that dirt into the engine; not cool! This is also very likely as it can be terribly difficult to get that hole spot on and not touch the sides. So the dirt on your dipstick gets bigger and bigger with every use. I checked my oil ONCE and there is so much dirt in it I can't believe it! Perhaps a third of the area is permanently encrusted. In my almost fifty years I have never seen such a dipstick! Second, the pattern is identical to a rasp, meaning that it will rip anything it's rubbed with, retaining fibers that are very difficult to pull out, especially without hitting them. put more in and on it! Third, for some reason it is almost impossible to read the oil level in this area and this is the only place where the oil will even lodge so that the level can be read. Even where there is no dirt. There just isn't enough oil to create a noticeable contrast. So it's not very good. And if there's dirt in all diamonds. and I'm sure they will be soon. so what? Then you can't even try to read it anywhere because it's covered in mud and you absolutely can't see the oil level! This thing is insanely bad.
