Pareto principle multimeter. This is a relatively inexpensive pocket meter that can do most of the jobs you need a meter for. It can't do everything and short wires aren't interchangeable, but the whole package is about the size of a deck of cards. The size and form factor really appealed to me. I bought the AAA battery version because I needed the NCV function. The NCV sensitivity of this meter is reasonable but not outstanding. I'm not 100% sure it will find the wire in the wall immediately before I bump into it, but it will be fine once I take a few measurements. The NCV function has an amplitude scale - visually on the display and LEDs, and by the tempo of the audio signal.
